Spoilt For Choice
When it comes to the units – doors and worktops – your choice will be dictated to some degree by your budget. However small that may be, though, you don’t have to sacrifice style – there is a vast range of practical, good-looking finishes to suit all pockets.
Remember that you will be living with this kitchen for many years so choose a style accordingly. Stainless steel is cool and contemporary but will it date? And will you find the extra effort involved in keeping it spick and span an unwelcome drain on your time?
Wood is warm and ageless – with the added advantage that you can change its appearance by painting it if you feel like a change. Veneer is a cheaper alternative and gives more uniformity of appearance.
Laminate has almost limitless possibilities in colour and texture. It is easy to clean and works well in both contemporary and classic kitchens.
The worktop takes the brunt of the wear and tear in the kitchen – from everything from hot pans and sharp knives to water and dirt. Therefore, choose the most durable material you can afford and protect it as much as possible by using trivets and chopping boards.
Granite is the most expensive and the most durable material; it doesn’t scratch or burn, it keeps its colour and undoubtedly adds a touch of class to any kitchen.
Stainless steel has the advantage of being able to be formed into any shape you require. For example, the sink and the splash-back can be made from the same piece of steel, eliminating joins that could jeopardise hygiene.
Laminate is equally popular for worktops as for unit doors. Like wood, though, laminate is susceptible to damage from scratching and cutting. Wood does have an advantage over laminate, however, because if oiled regularly to protect it from stains, it becomes more beautiful over the years.
Worktops are also available in glass, acrylic and various man-made materials – your choice is restricted only by budget and taste.
Top Tips:
Electricity sockets – you can’t have too many but remember they should be at least one metre away from any water source.
Extractor fans should be at least 750mm above the hob to prevent overheating.
Lighting is crucial. Illuminate work surfaces with strip or spotlights located under wall units to reduce the risk of accidents. For a natural, warm glow choose recessed halogen lights instead of a fluorescent strip or pendant light.
Flooring must be hard-wearing and easy to clean – try stone, wood, slate, wood laminate or vinyl.
Small appliances like food mixers and juicers should be positioned where you they will be used. If you have to move them to use them – you won’t!
Stainless steel units should be wiped over with baby oil to minimise unsightly finger marks, etc.
Sinks can be small, large, square, round, double, single, stainless steel, ceramic, deep, shallow – think carefully about what you will use yours for before choosing.
Taps are among the small details that can add greatly to the overall look of the kitchen. Choose the one that looks and feels right for you.
Storage – for maximum efficiency try to store utensils close to the areas where they will be used.
Small children and kitchens don’t mix. Never underestimate the ingenuity of toddlers! Put childproof catches on low-level cupboards and site any play areas well away from cooking appliances. Keep sharp knives in a locked drawer
Sample Doors:
Sample Doors are a great way to ensure you know exactly how your kitchen will look. Web based images sometimes do not give a completely accurate portrayal of the true colour of a door, so once you've decided on the Kitchen design you like, it's a good idea to order that Sample.
We levy a standard charge of £30 including home delivery for a Sample Door. Should you choose to go ahead and purchase one of our kitchens, we'll refund the cost of your samples against the price of your kitchen.

Quality Products:
CIS Kitchens are built to order under Quality Control procedures. The following information shows how solid and durable our kitchens are manufactured.
Our manufacturer uses a 19mm board supplied by one of the industry leaders Egger To the layman, the extra 1 to 4mm that our board is bigger than others may not seem important, but there is currently no board of this thickness that is denser than ours! This leads to a stronger, more durable carcase. Egger was chosen to supply this board as they’re one of the few companies offering such a high quality, dense material. This coupled with Egger’s ability to offer exactly the colours that we require to colour co-ordinate carcase with doors, make them the obvious choice.
In the construction of the units, only the best fittings have been used. All drawer boxes, hinges and fittings are supplied by Blum, another industry leader. The Blum Tandembox Titanium Drawer with Blumotion Soft Close system ‘grabs’ the drawer in the last 50mm of closing providing a gentle and controlled closure, making drawer slamming a thing of the past. Blum Soft Close Hinges provide strong, reliable door hanging while also offering easy door removal with their clip-on clip-off system. The hinges have been rigorously tested for wear and fatigue; including 200,000 opening/closing cycles and load and abuse testing to support their lifetime guarantee. These Blum systems work together in creating that slam-free environment. All our kitchen units use these fittings as standard.
Our rigid kitchens cater for every taste and pocket, always using only top quality products. Whichever door you choose, whether it is an MFC door edged in thick and robust PVC, a Vinyl Wrapped door sculpted using the latest computer controlled machinery, or a Solid Timber door covered with a fine veneer to ensure the most consistent finish, you can be assured we continue to use only the best available materials.
Each rigid kitchen unit comes together in a production line where the carcases are assembled by hand with joints being glued and dowelled. The units are squared under pressure then doors and drawers are fitted. The completely ready-built units are clad in heavy duty polystyrene protectors and completely wrapped in plastic. Your whole order is collated by your assembly team then collected by our delivery company who will liaise with you directly to ensure a mutually convenient delivery time. Throughout, a stringent Quality Control procedure helps ensure that every kitchen unit arrives in only the best
Environment:
We recognise that we have a vital role in helping to protect the local and global environment and use a wide range of sustainable products throughout the production process. These include woods that have either been FSC certified or Pan European approved, or as originating from Managed Forests.
